Ranthambore Fort

Ranthambore Fort (12 kms.) is rich in archeological monuments also. Perhaps the only one fort, which is not visible from a long distance. The Fort is a massive enclave and quite high. Mughal Emperor Shah Alam gifted it to Sawai Madho Singh I of Jaipur in 1754 AD and since then it was maintained as the private hunting preserve. Much later, Queen Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh were part of the Royal Hunting, who stayed here too. It’s a unique Rajput Fort. It has 7 large gates situated on a high and large hill which is a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. There are very famous temples of God Ganesh and (Trinetri) & Maa Kali. Archeological Department took it in 1964. It is 1578 ft from the sea level and 750ft from ground. Total area of the fort is about 7 miles. There is no drive way up to the fort, just the stairs. There are three big artificial lakes up in the Fort.

Surwal Lake for Bird Watching

Located 14km from Sawai Madhopur is a shallow seasonal lake, situated between acres of agricultural fields, which usually dries out by April/May is home to a large number of different kinds of migratory birds during the winter. Painted storks, flamingoes, spoonbills, sarus cranes, greylag geese amongst others can be seen in large numbers in between the months of November and March. During this season, the best time to see birds is very early in the morning and serious bird watchers should be at the lake before sunrise.

Mansarovar Lake Bird Watching

This water bodies on the age of the park attract thousand of migrating bird during winter and are specially exiting for bird watching some time in this area we can find some wild animals also, there is fisher men with the boats also we can hire those boats for boating in this lake.

Rameshwaram Bird Watching

50 km from Sawai Madhopur lies at the confluence of the Chambal and Banas rivers and is home for large number of migratory birds, crocodiles, alligators, the endangered river dolphins and many other animal species. A group of ancient temples are also located at the ghat worth seeing. Since the ghat is beyond the Mansarovar Lake and Khandar fort one can visit both these places in the same trip.

Sawai Mansingh Sanctuary:

Approx. 10 kms from Sawai Madhopur City, lies this haven for wildlife in the scenic area of the Aravalli Hills. An ideal additional trip or alternative to the safari in RanthamboreNational Park, this sanctuary offers rugged hillsides, beautiful scenery, wildlife and birds. Khandar Fort: The ruins of this majestic and historic fort are located on the outskirts of the Ranthambore Tiger reserve, not far from Sawai Madhopur. En-route there are very interesting landscapes, temples and villages worth seeing and spending some time viewing

Amareshwar Mahadeo Temple:

Amareshwar Mahadeo Temple is one of the major religious attractions near the town of Sawai Madhopur. It is situated on the road between Ranthambore and Sawai Madhopur. Located amidst beautiful green hills, the temple has emerged as a major picnic spot for the residents of Sawai Madhopur.

The temple is visited by a number of devotees who come here to pay their respects to the deity. Apart from its religious and historic significance, the Amareshwar Mahadeo Temple attracts a number of tourists because of the surrounding natural beauty. The temple has an enchanting waterfall and beautiful groves in its vicinity.

Rajiv Gandhi Regional Museum:

The museum is likely to open daily, except on Mondays and the National holidays; between 10 AM and 5 PM. Enriching the Indian history, Rajasthan has many attributes under its dome and the Regional Museum of Natural history is cited as an additional asset to the state. This will be the fourth natural history museum in the country after Bhopal, Bhubhaneshwar and Mysore.

KThe museum is situated in Ramsinghpura, which is a village at a distance of 9 kms from Sawai Madhopur. Spread in 7.2 acres of land, the museum is tastefully designed and aims at creating awareness of diverse life on earth.

Kala Gaura Bhairava Temple

Kala Gaura Bhairav Temple in Sawai Madhopur is located on a hill-top and lies in the city-center. It is believed that whoever visits this temple get his/her wish fulfilled. The temple is dedicated to Bhairav brothers; Gaura Bhairav and Kala Bhairav. Other than the deity of main lord, there are idols of Goddess Durga, Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha installed inside. One unique thing about the temple is that the main deity is installed at the entrance, unlike other Hindu temples, which have the main deity installed inside. It is said that King Hammir visited the temple and wished victory in his war with Alaud-din-Khilji. He said that he would devote everything to the lord, if he wins, and he did.

Palighat Boat Riding

Palighat Crocodile park is situated on the banks of Chambal River which is about 35 Kms away from Ranthambore and takes about an hour to reach. There isn't anything better than adding a visit Palighat if you are travelling to Ranthambore and looking for an unforgettable experience by the banks of Chambal River.
